Unusual Burger Combos at Eddie Burger Bar in Banff, Alberta

}

What's is the craziest burger combo you ever had? Dan's latest post has him sampling one with beets, pineapple and a fried egg!

It's not everyday you see a 'burger-mobile' on the side of the road in Banff, Alberta. I knew then I wanted to find out what Eddie's was all about. Build-your-own burger joints have been popping up everywhere, but this isn't just any burger place, this is The Eddie Burger Bar.

Inside this small, but cozy restaurant I was greeted by one of 'Eddie's' servers who explained the ordering process. Your patty options are fairly straightforward (beef, lamb, veggie...), but the in-between-the-bun options include anything from beets to pineapple to fried eggs. In addition to the build-your-own menu, there was also a list of signature burgers. In the end, I opted for the Aussie Burger, which funnily enough included all previously mentioned toppings on a locally produced AAA beef burger (with a side of o-rings too!)

The burger arrived in a timely fashion, stacked high with toppings, I was excited to experience my first burger/fried egg medley! The onion rings were nothing out of the ordinary, and definitely stood on the sidelines compared to Eddie's burger. The patty itself was cooked perfectly, and the combo of beets, pineapple, and the fried egg created quite the tasting experience. If this is an authentic Australian burger, I need to book a ticket to Sydney and take myself on a burger tour!

One of things I liked most about The Eddie Burger Bar was its environment. Everything from the 'burger-mobile' parked outside to the 'Eddie-isms' found on the menu, wall decals, and even my receipt radiated personality and charm. Half of what makes a great meal is the experience. I left the place feeling as though I had found a new friend (and a favourite burger) in Eddie. The next time I'm in Banff I'll be sure to stop by again for a visit!
